OnePlus has unveiled its OnePlus 8 series globally earlier this week. As expected, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, two phones were launched in the series. The OnePlus 8 is the affordable one between the duo and it is the successor to the OnePlus 7. Just like previous models, this phone follows the trend of flagship specs aimed at the masses. Despite it is priced higher than even, it will compete against other such flagship killer phones like Realme X50 Pro and iQOO 3 that were introduced earlier this year.
So, if you’re looking for a flagship-level phone that doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket, these flagship killers are the ones to choose from. Here is a comparison between two flagship killer phones- OnePlus 8 and Realme X50 Pro, so you can decide better.
OnePlus 8 vs Realme X50 Pro
Both OnePlus 8 and Realme X50 Pro sport a glass-metal sandwich design that is protected by Gorilla Glass on the back and front. However, the OnePlus 8 sports the latest 3D Gorilla Glass 6 on the back, while the X50 Pro comes with Gorilla Glass 5.
The OnePlus 8 which measures 8.0mm, is thinner than the Realme phone. In comparison, the Realme X50 Pro’s thickness is 8.9mm. The OnePlus 8 is also a lighter phone weighing just 180 grams, while X50 Pro weighs 205 grams.
The OnePlus 8 sports a bigger 6.55-inch display while the X50 Pro comes with a slightly smaller 6.44-inch screen. Both phones use HDR10+ AMOLED panels with a Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution. These also support 90Hz refresh rate.
Taling about the looks of the display, OnePlus 8 has a curved display with a single punch-hole on the top left for the selfie camera. While the X50 Pro has a flatter screen with a dual punch-hole cutout for a dual front camera. Both screens have in-display fingerprint scanners.
Both OnePlus 8 and Realme X50 Pro are powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 865 chipset with built-in 5G support.
The OnePlus 8 comes with up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.0 storage, and the X50 Pro also offers up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage.
Both phones run on themed versions of Android 10. The OnePlus’ OxygenOS feels smoother with right optimizations in the stock Android. While Realme’s ColorOS may not feel that smooth and also has more bloatware.
In the optics department, OnePlus 8 sports a triple camera setup with a 48MP primary Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.75 aperture and support for EIS & OIS, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle-lens, and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie camera.
The Realme X50 Pro, on the other hand, sports a quad-camera setup on the back. It has a 64MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP mono sensor. It has a 32MP primary selfie camera with an 8MP ultrawide lens.
The OnePlus 8 is powered by a 4,300mAh battery with 30W fast charging support while the X50 Pro packs a 4,200mAh battery with 65W fast charging support.
Both phones have built-in stereo speakers. Connectivity options on both the phones are also similar such as WiFi, Bluetooth, and both lack a 3.5mm headphone jack.
OnePlus hasn’t yet revealed Indian pricing for the OnePlus 8 series. However, globally the OnePlus 8 starts at $699 for the 8GB/128GB model which translates to Rs. 53,000 approx.
Realme X50 Pro, on the other hand, starts at Rs 37,999 in India for the 6GB/128GB variant and its 8GB/128GB model retails at Rs. 39,999.
OnePlus hasn’t announced the OnePlus 8 Pro in India yet, but its price is surely gonna be higher than Realme X50 Pro. Both the phones have flagship-level specs and fair face-to-face against each other in every segment. If you are not an OnePlus fan and can manage with a themed UI, you can go for Realme X50 Pro as it will save you some bucks as well.
