‘Contagion’ movie stars tell fans coronavirus is ‘reality’

The stars of the movie “Contagion,” which has seen a rise in appeal as the coronavirus has spread out around the world, on Friday prompted fans to listen to specialists, clean their hands regularly, and practice social distancing.

“That was a movie. This is real life,” stated Matt Damon, who played somebody who was unsusceptible to the infection included in the 2011 movie about a pandemic.

Damon, Kate Winslet, Laurence Fishburne, and Jennifer Ehle coordinated with researchers from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health to launch public service statements on methods to include the infection.

Leasings, sales, and downloads of “Contagion” have skyrocketed in current weeks. On Friday, it remained in 10 to put on the iTunes movie charts for the United States, one area above the newly-released “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”

The thriller follows a strange lethal infection that spreads out rapidly around the globe, triggering a breakdown in society, and efforts by U.S. researchers to discover a remedy.

Ehle, who in the movie played a researcher who assisted find a vaccine, prompted people to listen to the guidance of researchers and medical specialists, “and that means tuning out the voices with other agendas, no matter how powerful they might be.”
